Here I come

Ok, so I thought that I needed to start this blog so that I had something written down that I had to adhere to when it comes to paying off my debts. Don't get me wrong I rarely buy anything full price and most of the clothes in my closet are from the thrift store, but don't let that fool you about me. I wear designer clothes and have to have designer bags. My closet is full of AE, Brooks Brothers, Victoria's Secret, Polo, Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, not to mention the 62 pairs of shoes that currently are taking up more than a quarter of my closet space...I have paid full price for maybe 10 item in my closet. But somehow I have managed to live beyond my means for past few years. I think it was the vacations, the dinners out, birthdays, Holidays, and the "it-was-on-sale-and-my-size-so-I-couldn't-resist" purchases that I didn't NEED...per se.

I was laid off from my job in March of 2009 and was out of work for almost 4 months. During that time spending on anything besides food came to a grinding halt and I learned to kind of enjoy finding things that were free to do and free to have. Miraculously I was able to make two house payments each month for months in advance. This was crazy because when I worked full time I couldn't even do this and my husband was making about half of what I was making at the time. Because of this I know I can do it again. Here is the beef of how far into it I am:

- Credit Card 1: $7,000
- Car Loan: $5,000
- Boat Loan: $3,000
- Credit Card 2: $400

I am DETERMINED to stick to my new years goal of paying off these damn cards and not spending any money that I don't absolutely need to so that I can get this done by June 30, 2010. This seems like a really lofty goal but if I can make 2 - $2,200 house payment sin one month while being laid off I can do this now that I am working again. The economy is still bad and I don't want to have this pressure on my shoulders if one of use is laid off again....

DAY 1: This is what I spent
- House Payment: $2,200
- Homeowners Dues: $60
- Credit Card 2: $50

Hopefully this will be all that I will spend today but I am also low on frozen fruit...but its icy here so hopefully it will keep me inside and away from stores.

I will also be letting you know of where and when I find incredible deals and what I saved...I should have been blogging the last time Bloom Grocery had their triple coupon day...I got $300 worth of groceries for $99...now that's a deal.

Just in case you are interested I am continuing my exercise regimen from last year as well and am determined to try to get toned by exercising at least 5 days a week. Recently its been 4 or less so I am getting back into the groove and my meat reduction diet. I will keep you posted!

Cheers!
